Our client provides a full range of transport services to the Freight Forwarding (container transport) industry in Melbourne. They have built a strong reputation for outstanding service over the past 40 years, which they intend to continue in to the future.
Due to a recent departure they are now seeking a Night Shift Supervisor to help co-ordinate their transport operations over night (18:30 to 04:30). As the transport supervisor you will need to manage the night shift operations team, which will include drivers. Previous wharf transport experience is essential to hit the ground running!
Duties include:
- Responsible for the safe allocation of pickups and deliveries using a fleet of approximately 5-10 trucks.
- Management of all transport resources
- Direct supervision of up to 10 employees at any given time
- Manage bookings through the transport system
- Manage daily and weekly workload
- Maximize efficiency and customer service levels
- Checking and approving of drivers run sheets
- Preparation of reports as requested by the Transport Operations Manager and General Manager
- Regular communication with the workshop for scheduling of maintenance to vehicles and trailers
- Handle customer enquires via phone and email
- Various other operational duties
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary package (based on experience) plus ongoing support and training. Hours of work 18:30 to 04:30 Monday night to Saturday morning.
NOTE: Candidates without container transport / wharf transport experience will not be considered for this opportunity.
